About The Project

APPNE (Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of New England) is a prominent non-profit professional medical association representing physicians, surgeons, dentists, residents, and healthcare fellows across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. I architected, designed, and deployed a custom, high-complexity association portal and event management ecosystem. The platform serves as the central operational nerve center for the organization—enabling leadership to organize medical symposia, annual banquets, and CME (Continuing Medical Education) conferences, manage tiered ticket sales, track philanthropic donations, and maintain a regional physician network and medical job board.

Projects Challenge

Medical non-profit associations require sophisticated operational workflows that generic CMS templates and basic event plugins cannot accommodate. Key challenges included: 1) Complex Event Management & Tiered Ticketing: The organization hosts both academic CME seminars and large-scale annual galas with intricate ticketing structures (Active Members, Non-Members, Residents/Trainees, Families, and reserved VIP Tables of 10), requiring dynamic ticket limits, seat allocations, and attendee badge generation. 2) Multi-Tier Payment Processing & 501(c)(3) Donation Tracking: Integrating secure payment gateways to process recurring membership dues, gala ticket sales, and disaster relief donations with automated, IRS-compliant tax receipts. 3) Healthcare Career & Job Board: Creating a regional medical job board where healthcare networks and practices can publish vacancies and physicians can discover career opportunities. 4) High-Concurrency Stability & Long-Term Maintenance: Ensuring bulletproof uptime during peak gala ticket launch windows, enforcing role-based permissions (Admins, Event Chairs, Treasurers, Members), and providing ongoing server maintenance and security monitoring.

The Solution

I engineered a bespoke, secure web platform centered on a purpose-built Event Management and Donation Architecture: 1) Custom Event Builder & Ticket Engine: Developed an intuitive backend for administrators to create single or multi-day events, configure pricing tiers, set capacity caps, issue discount codes, and monitor live attendee check-ins with exportable rosters and automated digital tickets with verification codes. 2) Integrated Payment & Donation Gateway: Implemented PCI-compliant Stripe and PayPal gateways with tokenized security. Created automated workflows that process membership fees, gala tables, and charitable contributions—instantly generating PDF donation receipts and updating financial ledgers. 3) Medical Career Board & Member Hub: Built a dedicated healthcare job portal for regional clinical openings, fellowships, and practice acquisitions, alongside a member directory and CME certificate records. 4) Full DevOps Deployment & Ongoing Management: Deployed and hardened the platform on cPanel hosting with Cloudflare CDN, SSL encryption, MySQL query optimization, and dedicated SMTP relay (SendGrid) for reliable delivery. I actively maintain the infrastructure, executing regular security audits and database backups.
